I think it's for Lincoln Pattern as a lot of designs were submitted. These patterns won. The new shied cent in 2010 is sometimes referred to as LP5. But I don't know if it is for sure actually LP5.
LP1 = Log Cabin LP2 = Lincoln sitting on log LP3 = Lincoln as lawyer LP4 = Capital Dome (under construction during Civil War)
LP5 = Union Shield (preservation of the Union)

From Denver circulation, I've had five Philadelphia LP3's, no other 2009 Philly Cents, and two 2010 Philly Shield Cents. (most miraculous was my lone BU 2010-P Nickel!)
