Quote: ...my most recent Brinks box, which surprisingly yielded four silvers: two 1963-P and two 1964-D. Excellent!

My experience is that it is easier to find silver dimes than silver quarters. The reason may be that a dime has such little instrinsic value that most people don't examine them closely when receiving them in change. In addition, the small size of a dime makes it difficult to notice its nature. But people will check to make sure they receive the proper number of quarters in change -- and that coin is large enough to notice if it looks "different" because it contains 90% silver. Therefore, I think that the fraction of silver dimes in circulation is larger than the fraction of silver quarters.

I think that's probably a good theory.

I've got through four rolls of quarters on this trip to the USA. I get them partly for searching and partly so I can get elongated pennies from penny machines. I've filled a handful of mintmark gaps but have had nothing exciting like silver or W's. Disappointingly I've had no 2024 coins yet and no 2023 Tallchief or Idar. The rolls I've had have been white with orange printing and stripes. The last one contained two 1976 Drummer Boys (a P and a D) and a 2009P Guam!
On the Double Falls gaming machine on the cruise ship I DID see a Maria Tallchief quarter, reverse side up, but I left it there as I reckoned from its position it would cost me at least $7 to win it! I returned to the Casino on the last night of the cruise to see if the coin had moved nearer the edge, only to find the crew were renewing the carpet in that part of the room and the machine was switched off and inaccessible!

So yes, I've been MIA for a while... my life has gotten crazybusy. That said, still hunting quite a bit... and some great news - I FINALLY completed my 10 coin West Point set from a group of 800 MWR quarters I bought this past Tuesday: 2020-W American Samoa is no longer MIA!

Thanks, jason39305... I was wondering if I would have to travel to another region of the country to find it. So happy that it turned up unexpectedly.
And, perhaps not coincidentally, I found my second ever War In The Pacific 2019-W quarter the week before amongst another group of MWR... I'm thinking that I might have gotten some Brinks coins that may have originated from a different region of the country.

Thanks, Errers and Varietys and jbuck... nice to pop back in here again... I'll try to not be such a stranger... but stretches where I'm working 18 of 19 days and 50+ hour workweeks most weeks make it hard to get in here. Quote:
I haven't seen a W in quite some time. CalzoneManiac, I literally went through a 5 week stretch after a recent trip to Vegas (bought coins at 12 different banks in nearby Henderson) where I found nothing other than a 2012-S Acadia (non proof). On said Vegas trip (4,800 coins searched), I found 3 Ws and 2 silvers, believe it or not.

Today, I bought a roll of Quarters to add to my laundry fund. When I unwrapped the roll, I noticed a plain white edge coin, which I got excited about. When I pulled the coin out, it was a 1963 silver Washington!
This is the second time I've pulled a silver Quarter from a roll for my laundry fund. I should buy a box from my bank and crack the rolls open to hopefully find more!
