Rewster, it's because while the State Quarters were new and different, the ATB Quarters really are beautiful.

My teller told me today when I got my halves that she had a box of quarters if I wanted it. Gonna grab it tomorrow. First box for me.

It's not from roll searching, since I cant afford the time to do so, but rather a circulation snag some years ago:

The grey patina is a little darker than the scans suggest.

I just got done sorting my second box of quarters. I am mainly doing it to complete my set of Statehood Quarters and to collect the territories and national parks. I did however manage to find a 1952 D! I don't think I could ever sort quarters just for the silver as it seems there are way too many clad quarters in circulation to make it really worth while.

for some reason, the gold color shifts on the picture? But it's a gorgeous coin.

Spot gold plating like that is done with a stencil, so that only the areas open on the stencil get plating. This was a misplaced stencil reject.

I haven't found any silver since the big 32. I've found 5 or 6 of those plated states quarters though and a 1992 Ontario commemorative quarter which is a new one for me.
