cdn44fan: That's incredible... a tougher date, too.

glenzy: A highly impressive collection! (Only a 55 for the 1923? -- just kidding)

I have a (fairly) complete Canadian cent collection, missing only certain obverse Victoria varieties, 1936 dot, 1954 NSF, and 2000P. The latter two are long-term goals of mine, but are PRICEY!

Good work 4721butch (and others).

By the way, yes, I roll search and have obtained a few varieties and minor upgrades this way. But roll searching can often be 99.9% crap and 0.1% interesting.

I heard that sometimes coin clubs would send some of these nice coins back into circulation to stir up more interest in collecting like you and I are doing jmo.

Any other opinions?

Nice find cdn44fan.
My large cent collection is complete according to the 1970 Charlton's,I haven't upgraded or added to it in many, many years.I think I'll leave it as is,with all the varieties listed now I fear I could be stuck for the rest of my life collecting large cents.
My small cent collection is quite complete up to 2000,according to what's listed in Charlton's I am missing only the '36 dot and the '55NSF.

@butch: did you find those all from US circulated rolls? That's pretty impressive. How much time went into that? (Not in hours, I mean, from first penny to present. My collection is in the form of King George V&VI, and the modern classics that I can find. I've found quite a lot of 2006 Logo Non-Magnetic, but not much else.

@cdnfan44: I hadn't scrolled down all the way, and I was expecting a 2002 penny. WOW. 1938, it looks brand new!

I first started coin collecting about 39 years ago but stopped just after I got married and started up again about a year and a half ago with my grand-baby

Fairly recent and new to this active searching and collecting for a couple of months now, and having searched maybe 40 to 50 rolls so far, I don't have much or many varieties and have yet to really check my newer dates to know what I've actually got. Missing a few of the 40's and 50's and have nothing earlier than the '41 as yet. Although, I've yet to learn and see what extras my stepdads nephew sends me which he says "earlier dates" so I'm thinking some lower grades teens and 20's 30's 40's will arrive one day soon. Meanwhile here is what I've got so far:

1941 - my oldest Canadian right now
1942
1945
1947 ML Blunt Low ML
1947 Blunt
1949 A between the denticles

1950
1952
1953 NSF
1955 SF
1956
1957
1958
1959 Blunt 5
1959 Pointy 5

I would say all are lower grades but I don't know grading (how to) yet.

I already owned the 41, 45, 47's, 53, 55 a couple of months ago when I started actively searching.

Still lot's of the 1960's floating about and more of the 70's. An abundance of 80's 90's and 00's ... they need checking for varieties etc but I noticed a couple of DD 78's & 79's and maybe a couple or few "hanging" varieties ones.
