I recently took to ebay to fill out some of the pennies I was still missing after years of roll searching. I now have pennies from every year minted except 1858, 1881, and 1891. I've also been trying to get as many of the different varieties as I can, but I still need many of the main Vickie varieties.

I believe Canadian Pennies come out of US rolls of pennies... most probably by mistake. I even found two when I was in the States. One a 1999 1p, and a 1974 1p from my change there.

Maybe that is why they just laugh when I go to my bank and ask for a roll of Canadian Large Cents!

I have never tried that, but I think I will now. I understand their reluctance to hand them over though, as they were demontized back in the 1930 (as far as I know).

From 1920 to present these are the only ones I am sill missing. 22,23,24,25,26,28,29,30,31 plus a few new ones. All of these were pulled from circulation at a penny apiece.

Nice work Nancyc. The 1923 is a key date. Where did you find that one?

I'll be better off noting the ones I am missing....

Large Cents - 1858, 1887, 1891, 1892, 1894, 1895, 1897, 1898 H, 1900

Small cents - 80,81,90,91,93,96,98,99,01,02 Guess I was so focused on the older cents I didn't quite keep up on the recent ones!!

The 1923 cent has the second lowest mintage next to the 1925 at just over 1 million!!

Talk about roll searching, my neighbour was going to the bank one day with a fruit basket full of rolls. There was $130 worth he got from his grandfather. Guess who bought them? Pennies in MS from the 40's,50's and 60's,with a few good nickels in the 50's and half the dimes and quarters are silver. It really fills those pages up fast.

All my small cents have come from searching US rolls. I have all the George VI's through Elizabeth to 2008! All I really need are the George V's. Only found four of them....
