Quote:ibab said, I have a subscription for the ASE and it hasn't budged, I'm wondering if I would have been better off just ordering them. Is it a recent subscription? If so you might check it, they were only accepting subscriptions for 2011 towards the end.

So you were right -- Thank you!! I think I would have overlooked this... like several times and wondered what was up with it.

Glad to be of assistance, and it looks like they have yet to sell out, so still time to order!

I see the mint posted, on their web site, that proof ASE's will be available to ship on 12/05/2010 Seems like the always ship before they say, but I guess it could be a couple weeks before we see them. They don't mention anything about being sold out. Has anyone heard what the mintage might be.

Quote:I wonder if I can add the mint quarter rolls to my ASE order. By telephone. 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) I delayed ordering a couple of other items until I could piggyback them onto my Proof ASE order.

The mintage of proof SAEs has rarely, if ever, been set ahead of time. The last time a specific mintage was imposed by the mint was 2004 and it was 850,000 coins. Sales in 2005-2007 were between 800 and 850 thousand and in 2008, sales were stopped at a final mintage of 700,979. With what is expected to be greater than what was normal demand, one would expect the mint to go ahead and take orders for a while, but I would not be surprised to see mintage capped somewhere below 1 million. We won't know for sure until they stop sales and then tell us how many they shipped since it doesn't look like they are going to put an explicit cap on mintage this year.

They are now back ordered until December 7th. That means the first 600,000 flew out of the mint like true eagles. I went and ordered some by phone just in case they fill the phone orders first and never make it to the subscriptions. Hedging my bets; anyone wanna buy a "call" on 2010 ASEs at the strike price of $75? LOL But then it'll be no laughing matter if I missed the distribution on this one.

The date listed on the website is set at a running 15 days from today. It will say the 8th tomorrow. A new order will do the same thing in the Track order page until it switches to "in stock and reserved", and it will ship anywhere from that same day to a week or more later depending on the Tarot reading, I think. All of the subscription orders should have been reentered and should be into fulfillment already. They used this 15 day running thing once before for me on my uncirculated Boy Scout dollar. The coin ultimately shipped on the original date given, which was two weeks before the last "expected ship" date provided. I think what they are really saying is that the coins are in stock but it might take two weeks to ship them because of the backlog of orders. This still fits into their published policy of lightning fast shipping of in stock items in one or two weeks. I don't think anyone who orders now will not get coins. If and when they establish a waiting list or simply stop taking orders then you may be too late, but not now. Coins are in stock. Whether they have more orders than coins in stock is not known. I do know that they can mint far more than the 200,000 a month that Moy told congress was possible. That number could be accomplished on one or two, 3 shift presses.

Hey! The mint just got an honesty flu. The SAE order point now says that it will be available for shipping 11/23, tomorrow! This should mean that they have plenty of coins in stock to fill any current orders.

Ya, I know what you mean. That SAE that the mint told me shipped on Saturday just showed up on the FedEx tracking system. It says that the information about the shipment was delivered to FedEx at 3:56PM EST today and that FedEx actually picked up the package at 4:44PM EST, less than 1 hour ago. Add to that that I just got the email advertising the proof SAE and the post card in today's mail doing the same.

Quote: That means the first 600,000 flew out of the mint like true eagles In this case that's not it. In fact only 273,212 were sold through yesterday. Chances are the Pitney Bowes warehouse in Indiana didn't have enough on hand to fill those orders, thus a short back order to replenish the warehouse. But with the mint? Who knows! http://news.coinupdate.com/us-mint-...uts-at-0545/

I received a "your order was shipped" from the mint on Sunday. With any luck, I'll have it in my hands by Thanksgiving.
