I got my 1st $50 buffalo today at my local pusher. The coin looks great front and back, but the edge has a bit of "character". It is irregular in width and has a weird frosty look to some of it and polish shine to others. There is also a line in the center of the reading on the top of the reeds that goes around the entire coin. The line does not appear in the bottom of the reeds so it is not a dreaded tungsten seam

Do these things have funky edges fairly commonly?

It weighs right, looks right and measures right. It is a genuine $50 gold buff.

Irregular edges are very common.
