I have a standing $3000.00 offer. I think I will take my chances and submit it in a Heritage auction in the future.

This was a very cool story. I am glad the OP had the fortitude to keep pushing forward, and ignored many people and even TPG to find a true answer to his coins history. These are the true little gems we all hope to uncover someday - a coin worth a whole lot more than the first glance would tell you.

Hmmmm, a 2960.00 (taking out fees and the initial .50 cost) or so profit on your investment sounds pretty good to me...

I cannot believe I missed all of this before....
This is a remarkable story. For the FIRST time EVER, my wife read something on CCF and didn't stop until she finished the entire 18 pages
Hybes, you are my hero !!!
You have given me some vindication about why I have boxes and tubes laying around, going to the bank each week or so, wife always on me about wasting my time with this "searching stuff" . Three cheers for the Great HYBES

Wow, first off congrats! What an amazing find!!

And kudos to you for "sticking to your guns" with all the negative comments. And even more so for coming back after all this time to post the results. I can say honestly I'm quite surprised with some of the negative comments you received from some people and I can say you handled it very very well, I may have lost my composure a couple times there..so

I understand people being speculative about an error as rare and unseen/known as this one (I've never even known they've existed nor seen a pic of one before today) but some of the comments were just downright rude...we're suposto be a family and help those whom need guidance... We all dream about a find like this and should be supportive, not negative and quick to judge, especially without the coin in hand. Alot of newbies just getting into the hobby would be completely turned off to it after having an honest question treated in that manner... Just saying....

So again congrats on your good eye, amazing find and the determination to not accept no for an answer you felt in your heart to be true.. Even from PCGS!! Just amazing!

And now I go and pull out shoeboxes of Kennedy rolls to re-search...

I don't understand people sometimes. There are no 'haters' in the thread. People are just trying to get to the bottom. You have to rule out all the options. 'Hoping' and 'wishing' doesn't make a coin an error or not. The coins doesn't magically become normal because people were being 'haters' and saying it could be a misstruck clad, etc. It is what it is and people need data before they can make an assesment. I can't believe anyone read through this entire set of posts and then blah blah blah haters. Especially when there are comments like:

"One thing to note here...nobody is attacking you...but when we discuss the what if's, it is simply to educate ourselves for the next time an opportunity like this comes up."

It is called troubleshooting, information gathering, analysing, etc.

"That is why you should exhaust all possible tests yourself before sending something like this off to a grading service. That's why I always find it somewhat annoying whenever someone finds what looks to be a off-metal error there will be people immediately advising sending it off to be certified when simply tests that can be done at home will unmask better than 99% of the fake off-metals."

I've been here long enough to know that EVERY week there is someone posting that they found something. Then you have some noob who is probably just trying to get to 50 posts or 250 posts, "Congradulations, I'm with you to the end!" "My thoughts are with you."

What does that even mean? Nothing but a flaccid platitude.

This is a story where someone found something and it really panned out, which is great. But a lot of these don't pan out. There is a bit of excitement fatigue when you see posts like this every week and you have to start looking at the problem, is this a real error, or a real coin, instead of the whole, blah blah blah, rich, great, famous, the prime minister called me because I found this, I'm going to retire, emotional high.
