I was just poking around ebay and there's a ton of them out there although it is a little tricky to find them all due to sellers using different titles and putting them in different categories.

So I just spent a few minutes tweaking a fairly sophisticated search and built a page to show them all quickly.

I've added the link to the "Popular Coins" at the bottom of the page so it's available all the time.

Thanks so much for putting that page together... so I haven't seen the commentary since these have actually been seen in hand. It looks like they've added a lot of detail to the reverse for the 5 oz coin, but left the obverse alone (even "quarter dollar").

Just when you thought this debacle could not get any worse- http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...icleId=16900

The limited mintage sparked high demand for the coins, in effect turning a bullion coin into a collector coin.

Which is why people started gathering outside The Gold Center the night before the sale was to begin.

"People were pitching tents outside," Hausman said. "This is a high security facility. No one is allowed here."

With the help of local law enforcement, the crowd was dispursed, but Hausman estimates about 500 people gathered outside the building the morning of the sale.

But not all of them were collectors he as would find out.

Someone had hired 50 to 60 people from a local employment agency to stand in line and purchase sets, Hausman said. But as soon as he found out about it, he told the group he wouldn't sell sets to them.

"Then another person put someone at a restaurant three blocks from here paying people $250 apiece to come over here and buy sets," Hausman said.

"Customers, busboys, waitresses were coming over here, and what can we do about it? The U.S. Mint dictated the policy. I figure they ended up with 50 to 75 sets."

Crazy! This will eventually die down. The current premium on these sets is far too high!

Most coins that immediately skyrocket right out of the starting gate tend to fall back down close to issue price or even less after a few years. The only question is how many years? Some will fall in just three years or so, but I find a better rule of thumb is that whatever the price is after ten to twelve years will be the floor price. If it is still up at that point then it will stay up. (You will usually see a downward trend in the three to ten year period.)

Yep, right where it's at. Forever.

It updates automagically on the fly when the page loads.

can't no one complain about this auction because they started it at .99¢ and what ever it sells for its the people bidding that is at fault http://cgi.ebay.com/America-Beautif...em3cb3f9609f . So in other words what ever this auction sells for is what the public is willing to pay at the moment for the coins

Yep, and a lot of people forget that what the public is willing to pay determines worth, not some book or website.

What do you think the cost for one coin will be from the mint ?

A numismatic version of the three-inch, five-ounce silver coins, also minted in .999 silver, will be available for purchase directly from the United States Mint during the first quarter of 2011. The maximum mintage for these collector versions is set at 135,000 units-27,000 units for each of the five 2010 coins. The United States Mint will strike all 2010-dated numismatic coins by the end of the year, as required by law. Additional information about the release date and pricing for the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coins will be available at a future date.

If they sell single coins, and it sounds like they're going to, they should be around $190/ea. These numismatic versions are to have a special finish and presentation case and could certainly fetch much more but with all the controversy going on, they might sell these for well under "market value". The mint's website and phone line will be busy the day these go on sale.

My guess is the mint will sell the individual collecors versions at somewhere around $250 assuming $30 silver. This estimate is based on the percentage mark up they charged for the Unc W silver eagles which were the same as the bullion coins but with a mintmark. The collectors hock pucks will also be the same as the bullion version but with a P mintmark.
