So how does one track down a stack of bills in numeric order? Do they have to be ordered or can you jsut go in the bank and say I want some bills....?

Usually you can just walk into the bank and ask for notes. If they don't have them, they will order them in for you.

If I remember correctly, a note with all 8's sold for $300,000 a few years ago to a Chinese collector. I think 8's have a special meaning to them.

Yes! the number 8 mean "rich" in Chinese.

yes scoob I would not mind selling it for 700$ is what I ment in my other post.

When I said " one in a million " I ment rare as in a expression .

How many notes are printed each year at all the printing presses throughout the u.s and how many years has money been printed . More soild digit notes exist then one would think.

each year more and more notes are printed so more go into circulation.

i think 700 is one heck of a profit

Right you are coppertop, US notes have been printed since 1861, and before series 1928, zeros were not added to the front of serial numbers, so a solid could be one digit, two digits, three digits, and so on up to eight digits, so that meant a lot more possibilities for solid notes..... banknotes are printed only in Washington and Fort Worth, but the numbers that are printed are absolutely astronomical, so there are lots of solid numbers floating around, but the ratio of solid to non-solid is more like that 1 to 12 million factor (it is not that they are by any means rare), but they are just so hard to find among all of those other non-solids.... the proverbial needle in a haystack.

This note along with the whole strap will be on ebay this week...i set a reserve of what I will let them go for. If it is not met, then I keep them. We shall see.

Although some folks might consider that last post to be borderline spam, I wish you good luck with it.... setting a reserve will give you a real life idea of what it is worth.... however, if it doesn't sell this time, maybe the right folks just were not looking.

It is interesting that you have the whole block of sequential notes. I would think that would impart some additional value if sold as a set since - I dare say - it is probably fairly unique to have an entire block around a solid number.

Set the reserve HIGH ($1000 minimum), list the block, and see what happens.

Zee; I was not trying to spam...just giving you an update...i think a link to the auction would have been spam...also I have seen countless posts with references to selling an item in this forum. The reserve is up there fenton...im really just curious as to what the market value is.

Yes, I know you were not spamming, sometimes folks do though, and don't even realize it.... I was just offering a 'heads up'.... Good luck with your auction, I hope you get what you want...

That is sooooo sweeeeet. Congrats on that one, I agree, easily one in a million that it was still bundled up new like that from 2006. Not sure where you live but I would imagine the closer you live to one of the Fed. Res. banks the better your odds, not sure how they distribute the bills to those banks. Is it random, or in order of print, Proximity or what? Anyone know how this works?
