Very nice! Looks like a normal edge and PCGS would be a good bet for TPG. The marks don't look nearly severe enough to call it damaged.

Nicely done, man. You can probably divine my opinion of having it slabbed from my last two posts in your other threads; unless you're going to sell it, keep the money in your pocket.

I will slab it. Even if I would slab it I would want it graded. I feel a coin like this needs to be protected.

It's not "protected" in a slab, any more than much cheaper solutions. Slabs are not airtight. Other forms of storage are. By all means, if you want authentication and an "official" grade, slab it. If you are considering the aftermath of your passing, slab it. With PCGS. I only argue against because your long-term plans do not seem to involve liquidating the coin, and there are better long-term storage solutions available than slabbing. You can always get it slabbed later when you choose to liquidate, and this coin has a serious downstream profit potential which more than offsets any potential price increase in grading cost down the road.

PCGS received my coin a few days ago. I am still waiting to hear back from them. How ong do they usually turn a coin around?

3 Weeks is a typical turn-around time at PCGS. Once your coin has been checked in, 16-17 business days for grading is normal.
Do you have an account so you can check their website?

I don't know why I didn't see this thread before... and it is a shame to rain on the parade now, but you are entitled to know the truth about your coin w1a9c8k5..... This is no R-5 coin.... it is probably the most common variety of the 1809 series..... It is O-102 (R-1). That is not graffiti above the eagle's head.... those are denticle impressions, and they are supposed to be there..... they are on all examples of this variety. Hope that didn't hurt too bad.... edited to add: I see now why I never saw this thread before.... (I never look at this grading forum)..... I must have hit the wrong link to get here.

zeewool. I didn;t think there was anythign special about it. Do you think with teh variety your explaining I should try to get a hold of PCGS and have them check for it (I'd of course have to pay more)?

I'm not sure I know what you mean..... if you are talking about the particular variety, definitely not...... the coin is going to be worth more in a slab without the variety mentioned (since it is a very common variety). If it was a rare variety, then the attribution on the label would be a plus..... I'm not sure that PCGS attributes CBH though anyway.
