I just put some laundry in the dryer and I noticed some change in the bottom of the wash. Being who I am, I examine each coin. Turns out I find a very nice 2010 P Jefferson. First one I've seen. Does anyone have mintage numbers for 2010? I cannot seem to find any solid information. All I've found is speculation.

The US mint website gives a number of approximately 500 million nickels minted for 2010.

With roughly 250 million for each mint.

Thank you for the info. This just goes to show the value of this forum. From reading just the Internet I was under the impression the total from both mints was under 2 million. That's a far cry from 500 million. 2010 a keydate? - not likely

We do know "this" much so far......

Jefferson nickels, 2006--present
2006 P - 693,120,000
2006 D - 809,280,000
2007 P - 571,680,000
2007 D - 626,160,000
2008 P - 279,840,000
2008 D - 345,600,000
2009 P - 39,840,000
2009 D - 46,000,000
2010 P - 97,680,000 (through August 2010)
2010 D - 147,840,000 (through August 2010)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel...States_coin)

And these are NOT "final" numbers.....they kept minting !
So, compared to 2009 P and D's....NOT EVEN CLOSE !
The 2010 Jefferson issues are extrememly common. I'm an avid Nickel searcher, and I've come across GAZILLIONS of these......I made a couple coin tubes full, and now I just pitch back all that I come across. They're EVERWHERE (if you search rolls)
So, the '10's might not be the "highest" in years.....but they're certainly considered "common".

Yes, the 2009 P and D nickels were much lower in production than 2010.
