I was wondering if this was in particularly good shape for its date. It's a 1954 Canadian half dollar. I was wondering if it was anything special with the condition it is in. I really don't know how to grade Canadian money. I know that the 80% silver is a little more wear resistant than comparable american coinage that is 90% so I don't know how that affects the grading.

here are a couple of pics taken with a macro lens.

You found that in a roll? In Texas?!

It looks like it's in outstanding condition.

i should clarify. I actually bought it in San Francisco while I was on vacation a couple weekends ago. it was in a roll of 20 Canadian half dollars that I bought at bullion value - about 175 USD.

Hi !

You can grade it at E.F to A.U. My book write about 12$ to 18$ but it's not up to date.

I like the reverse of the 50¢, it's so beautifull.

Just to find a 50¢ in circulation is not commun lol

THanks !

shafta9a,
except for one sharp looking 1958, the rest of the coins were from the sixties. Some of them actually look a little better than the 1954 I posted pictures of. They even have a little luster left too. The 1958 looks just as good but I think that date might be only worth bullion value, but not sure. Then there were 1 or 2 worn ones and a dirty one. None of them are cleaned or buffed. definitely a good buy at around $175. Actually that day, I bought that roll, a 1962 2.5 gulden, and a 1946 English half crown all for $185 (and the shop owner gave my wife a small sterling box chain to boot). The next day at a flea market, I bought two beautiful Canadian dollars for $33. Pretty much, I paid scrap price all weekend for a bunch of cool coins!

Thanks for the grading tips, everyone.
