IMO, Silver maples, pandas, phil harmonics, koalas, or American eagles are the way to go. The ebay market is already starting to see a flood of fake 1 oz bars, and I can only imagine what it would be like if there was a real shortage of silver, or if the price went up. I'm sure they can duplicate the coins just as easy, but imagine there would be more effort involved. Plus they are more easily recognized then a privately minted bar.

There is a bit of extra premium for them, but that might be the reason why. Junk silver is good too if you can find old coins, or even sterling silver ware.

Excellent point Vinnycoin, I have heard about those fake bars. If there is a way to fake it, you can bet the crooks of the world are making as I type, and I agree, the minting of these coins you mentioned (all favs by me by the way), it would take some real, skill, money, an time to make, so not worth the crooks time....

What about the pamp sussie gold bars, I have a 1 gram gold one with the liberty, and another 2.5 gram pamp, should I take them to the local gold buyer and have them tested to be safe. I know the gent I bought from has a serious positive rep in this bus, and has been doing it since he retired from military back around 79. So I figure others way smarter than I have already bought, tested, and gave his product the thumbs up, that had left him the 1000's of positive feed backs....

Just a note on weights.

The avoirdupois pound is 454 grammes. With 16 ounces to a pound,an ounce weighs
28.275 grammes.

The troy pound of 12 ounces weighs 373.243 grammes, the troy ounce weighs
31.104 grammes.

The troy ounce is 10% heavier.

I don't know where silver is going to go, but I can tell you I own more now than I ever have. And it still seems to be a buy in my book.

I did take a piece of 14k to Publix today and tried to buy a rack of ribs and some eggs with it. They said, "either pay cash, or swipe a piece of plastic. We aren't a pawn shop"

I can't figure out why they didn't want real metal instead of that other stuff. What's up with that?

In Yurrup, where it wasn't unusual to change currencies and languages from town to town, I suspect gold exchanges are prolly as ubiquitous as ATMs in the US.

Pubix doesn't want your gold for the same reason they wouldn't buy a bag of freshly cut ribs from you. They're not set up for it.

That's not to say they couldn't if they wanted, or had, to.

Makes a lot of sense to me, Bullseye. I only started collecting silver bullion a few months ago but the more I get into it, the more silver looks like REAL money and the more FRNs look like Monopoly money. Swapping fake money for real money appeals to me... a LOT!
