With Obama sending congress a 3 trillion plus budget for 2012 today, I think it will be quite interesting to keep an eye on gold and silver prices. Actually, all precious metal prices. Silver is up 73 cents today.
I'm fastening my seatbelt and hanging on tight. This is going to be wild.

Nickel past $13 a lb. heck 3 more bucks and we'll be talking $1 an oz lol. Nickel is fast approaching precious metal status.

I have been hoarding all nickel and copper coins. In Canada, every roll has more than 50% copper rate.

yeah but in canada you also have 4 different weights of copper cents, so you can say count out 5000 of them an know the weight :)

I am jealous of your .999 nickels though. not many good nickel bullion coins out there.

Funny Lbertad, I just asked about the idea of investing in a 1 oz palladium bar in this same section, under the thread about the gent who forged 3 oz of raw scrap platinum....

I just checked silver, and it was 30.73, gotta love it, except ever day it goes up, the sellers prices go up, so it is making my silver hoarding project difficult. Our country has been over extending itself for years now, you think it could hold on six more months or a year, but things are getting interesting, look at these two links below, one about a South Carolina politician who wants SC to make its own state currency, and the other is about France holding meetings to create a quote...."New global finance system", taking much power from the US, and its "World reserve currency" status....

Interesting times we live in indeed. Been trying to find copper bullion, but the markups are way too much!

South Carolina has a long history of having a different fiscal system than that of the Union (United States). Personally, I hope there is competition between currencies and not the outright war we're having. Even in Canada there is a lop-sided distribution of wealth amongst the provinces, of which we only have 10 huge ones, so I can only imagine the frustration of 50 states. But I think that states don't have the right to issue their own currency, they can only say which ones are acceptable forms of currency state-wide. I could be wrong as always.

if I save my silver and gold while waiting for it to go up and then turn it in for fiat paper money, what have I gained except for profit?

I did take a piece of 14k to Publix today and tried to buy a rack of ribs and some eggs with it. They said, "either pay cash, or swipe a piece of plastic. We aren't a pawn shop"

I can't figure out why they didn't want real metal instead of that other stuff. What's up with that?

IHPO8S:
It just might hit $50 this year. I wouldn't be surprised. If not, I feel it will next year. I think it's set for another big run up very soon. May have already started. Maybe $50 is not the ceiling either. I don't know. Just my feelings. We'll see. Silver: She's a Mysterious Lady.
