It is still just an idea. I guess the first step is to buy the darn album. I would like Dansco, but it seems they haven't been supporting it. Maybe another album would be better. I still have the coins to put in it, it just hasn't been on any of the front burners lately.
I'll keep any interested people informed if/when I make progress in this direction.

I'm doing my type set slabbed. Never been a fan of albums. I don't like the presentation style. Plus with slabs I can look at them individually and showcase individual pieces

Yep, I was in the same boat several years ago. I was on the fence for a long time. I just don't like starting an album if I don't have a reasonable (or close) chance of finishing it. I just always thought a 7070 (no gold) was out of reach for me.
Then I did what you did. I looked through my coins and was surprised to see I actually had many of them. Not all the best condition but it was a start. Just missing many of the key/higher price ones.
Before I bought the Dansco 7070 album, I copied the dates and types from an on-line album and wrote them on a large sheet of construction paper. I placed the coins I had on the spots. I wanted to see how many I had and how many I needed. Like I said, I was surprised. After I bought the album, it took several years to complete.
This guys video really motivated me! Good luck with whatever you decide.

That's funny, I'm just the opposite. I guess we're all different. I break all mine out and put them in the album.
I personally already have a 7070 album, but it's only about halfway done (actually slightly less than halfway, though I could get it to more than half with coins I own but hadn't put there yet), and most of the remaining holes are going to be really tricky to fill (I have yet to find any Seated Liberty silver within my budget, and the 7070 has like 20-odd holes for them, plus five more for Bust silver).
If it comes to that, I might have to consider online marketplaces... OK, I guess I'll deal with it if I do get a prize from that one math contest. I think they were supposed to tell me in September?
