Thanks again Coop. Those photos are good! Really helps me to try identify finger feeder marks

The coin I posted, around the end of LIBERTY and all the way to the back profile of Abe, looks more like die clash designs/shapes, as opposed to the kind of haphazard shapes (no designs at all actually!!) of feeder finger problems.

Boy, there sure are a lot of different kinds of effects on coins from different processes or tools in minting! I guess wisdom comes with age and experience in identifying them all. I'll learn

Dottir, I have an LMC such as your photos... in that I can see 'non random' what would seem to be 'machine' marks with a lens, but photography illudes me. Which raises the question of what to do about such coins... how 'strong' does it need to be in order to be considered an authentic example?
(A stab at answering my own question) I suppose it is a matter of degree. The stonger the effect, the more valuable the coin?
......... Gee, I hope I held back the coin I am talking about... want to take a second look.

Hi Changeless

I'm at the kindergarten, maybe even the daycare level!! of this whole coins learning and have a long way to go before I "knows stuff" about degrees and values of anything. I wouldn't even try to grade or value a coin at this point because I feel I'm not even close to knowing anything yet. I'm sure I'm here for the longhaul though with coins and in this forum and will know a lot one day.

I hope you find your coin!
