come ono and break it out. It's yours now so only you care and think of how the other coins in the Album will welcome him.

Quote: I do wish it was a little better strike Amazing how no matter what, we can find fault in the coins we get. I always do that... "If only the word liberty was a little stronger" Your coin is perfect by the way And for the record I agree with Carl, hold that baby in your hands and put it in the album!

FANTASTIC! I am not just saying this, I think it is a really super nice original specimen of the King of Lincoln Cents. Quote: upstate wrote: Amazing how no matter what, we can find fault in the coins we get. Isn't that the truth. All of us on the side of the fence are probably all thinking what a great coin that is. Congrats. Now thank you for sharing that key coin with us. I hope it helps make it all that much more fun to know we are happy for ya.

That's a nice one there. A little less rub on Abe and it could go AU50, imho.

Thanks again for the comments
I did take it to two different coin shops today. Both liked it. One said he would have no problem giving me $1300 for it. The other one said it would be worth $50 more if it was in a PCGS holder .. not sure what to think about that.
As for breaking it out of the holder still leaning to not doing that. Maybe more to protect it from myself ..
I think I am going to try and take another wheat and grind off the face .. or a blank cent and somehow stamp on it
NGC XF 45
and put that in my Dansco album

Thats a beautiful coin goldrush!! As for the guy saying that it would be worth more in a PCGS holder...thats crazy...theres nothing wrong with a NGC holder! And I think I would leave it right where its at...in the NGC holder!

Interesting how you said that the only others you're missing are 09-S, 14-D, and 22 Plain, because I have all those, and don't have the S-VDB! My dad and I have a folder together, and when he was a kid he was able to get the 09-S and 14-D out of circulation. A few years ago I got a 22-Pl on ebay. So now the last hole awaits.

I guess a lot of collectors get down to those last 4 or 5 coins, for me it is sort of waiting for a good coin at a good price to come along.
I think it is really cool your dad got a 14 D and 09 S out of circulation. I wish I could have done that years ago.
I did buy a 09 S since I picked this one up(it is posted under modern grading)
I think my dansco really looks better every time I fill one of those holes.
Good luck on you and your dad getting that S vdb.

Congratulation on the win and on the coin.
Now, for the rest of those collectors looking to get one: There's ONE less!
