I recently opened an account at Commerica because I went in there one day and bought rolls and talked to the manager about getting boxes.
So I opened the account and got a box of nickels, dimes, and quarters. The next week I went back and ordered 2 boxes of halves on a Tuesday and they came in on Friday. When I went in to pick them up I talked to the manager again, and she asked why I wanted so many coins. I was honest, and told her I collected coins and liked to find them in rolls because it is cheaper and just more fun. I felt alittle awkward but proceeded to ask her if this was a problem, and I said I would limit my boxes to 1 or 2 a week because I didn't want it to be a problem and cost them too much money. She said it was no problem as long as I ordered them in advance and I could order as many as I want because it doesn't cost them anything extra as long as I waited till there normal shipments came in (Tuesday and Fridays.
Anyways the point of the story is maybe more collectors should look at Commerica Bank to help them get boxes. I am not sure about the extra boxes not costing them anything though, maybe she just doesn't know? or maybe it actually doesn't because they are a large bank across America they have a deal that they just pay a flat shipping fee no matter how much coinage they order (plus the cost of the coins obviously). Hope this helps people that are looking for certain types of coins but can't find boxes of them.

What kind of rolls does Commerica Bank get?
Brinks? Garda? Purolator? Fed wrapped String & Sons?

I've never heard of that bank. It doesn't exist here in our capitol city of Topeka, Kansas population about 130,000. BUT, I received basically the same story from the manager at "my" bank. I "pre-order" the boxes of String & Son coins whenever I want. ALSO...... I "hit" a half a dozen different banks each week that I DON'T belong to, to ask for boxes of Nickels or Cents. Most of the time they're happey to give them to me. And this way I delve into fresh pools as well......in other words....I know I'm not just "re-searching" from the same pool. (and that has happened before from String & Sons at "my" bank)(I've recognized certain one of a kind PMD coins that I had in my hand from previous weeks !) So, the moral of "my" post is....... it never hurts to ask ! Go to different banks once in awhile.

I do they samething as eaglefoot, if I am going to be bored that night and wanna do some extra roll searching I go to local banks with a few hundred dollars and buy a box or as many rolls as I can. The only problem is the tellers look at me funny when I asked to see the rolls first, I won't buy the plastic wrapped rolls if they are dimes or quarters.

Hey coin if you want to send me the money I will order you a box or two of whatever, you will have to pay the shipping too. Too bad you didn't live in Toledo, I am in Michigan and I would just meet you in Detroit (about 40 to 50 mins for both of us) one day and than go hit the casino.

Hmm.. I'm just curious about something.. what does it mean when you guys say "fed wrapped string & sons." I've seen the string & sons wrappers.. is it the fed that wrap those. Normally I get brinks rolls.. is that not wrapped by the fed. Thanks! :)

I think it is cause the fed ships them out in bags. String and son is the company that rolls them for the banks, as well as other companies

I've had this happen too, so I have started to mark the wrappers so I can identify them while I am still at the bank. Or I will put "markers" in the roll, like a 2010 cent reverse showing on both ends. If I get a few of those, I know I've been there.

There's no Commercia in NJ, so it's not an option for me. The other thing people can always try is asking the bank manager: What can I do for you? Is it new accounts? Opening a CD? Help me help you!

Wow this suprises me. Commerica started as a Michigan based bank, and even paid for the naming rights to the new baseball field back in the early 2000's. Then they announced they were moving their base headquarters to Houston so they could go Nation wide back in 04 or 05. It really suprises me they still don't have branches in so many states.

How long before the armored carrier starts charging for extra coins, once a couple dozen people start getting several boxes a week? They cut mileage and take time to load and unload, both of which translate into $. That's the problem with some money making ideas. They work fine for one or two people, but they don't scale.
