Can anyone tell me what kind of error this is? Is it common? The denticles seem to go smaller from bigger and the face looks like it had another strike somewhat...I am new to collecting so any help would be appreciated! :)

Thanks for your time folks!

Looks like PMD to me, like from a coin sorting machine or a coin operated dryer or something..

Has anyone heard this (QUOTE)"This is caused by a dull cutting blade.sometimes only on part of the coin and sometimes the line(s)can go all around the perimeter of the whole coin"(END OF QUOTE)<(Please Not my words)(I'm not saying this is or is not. This is what someone else said) I heard this quite a while ago Since then I started to save "cutting blade errors"But I ended up with so many I quit it.(Spent them all).I also heard of someone else selling them on ebay as cutting blade errors and did allright with them.

Is this post understandable? My wife always tells me I go on too much.

I think there's more to this coin than that.

Look how the denticles are crisp and clear around 1 o'clock, but elongated and distorted around the 7 o'clock position.

Can we get a closer shot of that area around 7 o'clock?

I think that's an comparative illusion caused by the rim being rolled further in at 13:00-14:00 hrs Scooby.

I think the coin was struck "out of collar" ie. not in center when struck. I've seen a number of these in 2010 quarters

-sab- Sounds about right to me! I've seen this on other coins too various degrees, through the years! Not worth any premium IMO. I don't see the intrigue! Just MD!
