Ahh, a good laugh early in the morning before work.
That is one spotted Lincoln, I agree that it looks as though it was used to put out smokes.

I really like that "toning" on your second post 52Raymo! Suppose that would come from a blow-torch? Also, any idea on the first post one? I've seen them like that and always thought that happens through some sort of corrosive.

The second one...a guy on ebay makes these with a laser. I bought one just for the heck of it. Only a cpl bucks and I love the looks of it. The first one is actually what resulted from Abe having his brains eaten by a zombie. I think.

Ok....zinc rot

Yeah, I know, it's not a "modern" coin.
But this proves even a key-date Morgan can suffer from PMD.

Oh no!! Not a Morgan!! and a CC even!! Got to admit, wasn't expecting to see one of those on here. I didn't specify modern or not, so it's all good. Thanks for posting!

Cyclops Abe I found searching through a box. Found some other nice ones too including a 1951-S, 2011-S, and several AU 1960. And I've only gone through 1/3 of the box, a good one for sure.

I'm thinking acid, whatever it was it ate away more zinc than copper. The void eaten away goes further under the copper plating than the surface holes.

At first I thought this was marker that some how didnt rub off until I looked at it under the USB microscope (hey think came in handy lol) and noticed its grooves and gouges. Dont know what the black is unless the black is toning thats gotten into the gouges.

Hmm.. Thanks for sharing that one. First thing I thought of was maybe a wood burner type tool. Don't know what one would do to coin though.

Here's one. Got this from my local bank branch a couple days ago when I asked them for any halves they had. Maybe someone made it into a necklace?
