Does a Star * rating always command such a higher price? Looking to get some nice Ike's to put away for a long time and came across this one. Just curious about the price.

Stars always cost more and that Ike is the key silver Ike.As to price look here http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...ices61.shtml
$35 bucks but it does not state star designation. So? Check around, check pop reports.

From what I know, the "star" only means that it has exceptional eye appeal... internation form of grading, The ones I know of are "plus" and "star"

Aye, but the star designation is nothing more than a fancy thumbs up where a grader thought it was pretty. :-)

Based on aesthetics, a coin with a star is often nicer than a coin that is one numerical grade up -- and based on my experience, the star coins often command premiums.

The star means exceptional eye appeal. A coin can be toned beautifully and receive the star designation or blast white with or without being cameo and receive the star designation. It's all to do with eye appeal as Kingsnipes said.
