Hi all! So going through rolls of nickels and finding the usual PMD coins. I got to thinking, This is a subject that I see a lot about on here. Why not show em off? I think it would be really interesting and educational at the same time! Who knows? Maybe someone holding on to a PMD will find out it is actually an Error! I know being a newbie at errors, varieties, and PMD, it happens! Though, I do think that Elongated coins are a form of PMD, I think those can be posted elsewhere as they are more of a novelty. So here are a couple to start off with. I found both of these in my last box of Nickels.

A tire! Yeah, it does sort of look like a rim! I have a few PMD that I caused myself too. Hmm.. I shot a dime with a .22 from about 80 yards. Never found the dime though. I took a quarter, a nickel, a cent, and a dime all stacked together and squished them with a 10 ton press. Sold that one to a friend for $1.00 Actually looked pretty cool. I was in High School shop class when that happened. I too have some coins run over by a train. Again, back in High School. I'm all growed up now so I don't do things like that anymore. I can't wait to see some more of your PMD's I know that there are some that can get pretty strange!

Looks like a few had a somewhat rough if not interesting life. Scooby, wonder what costume he was going for?

The 1941 damage comes from a mechanism, usually parking meters, catching on the last digit.

Comments on a few of the above PMD pictures: LWC is 1/3 thickness, normal width LMC is 1/3 thickness, slightly wider that a nickel 1965 Quarter is core and reverse, no obverse covering Silver Quarter is slightly thinner and about 2mm wider than normal

That's crazy stuff. Some appear to only be recognisable by the reverse side. What do you suppose happened to the top LWC? Looks to have burnt or something. I have a nickel that has a similar pattern as the last quarter. Only it goes to about half the thickness on the Reverse side. More than likely from a lathe. I'll try to post it too.

The LWC might have been acid, or was placed in a Coca-Cola? I have heard a Coca-Cola can corrode coins, but never tried it. Why waste a good coin and a good drink. For the silver quarter, I can only guess it was placed on a floor, road, or drive-way and something drove over it. That would explain why the rev is less worn than the obv, but that doesn't explain the radial scratches on the obv
