Irony is there is no good place to put the hole. On the bottom its upside down when it hangs, on the top and its a kinda macabre bullet to the brain. :| Though I guess maybe as a key chain it doesn't matter so much since there really isn't any 'up' to your keys.

Yeah, that is irony. I like the delicate way you put that. You're right, there really is no way to really punch a hole without it being botched...unless of course, like you said, a key-chain.

Well if it was something I liked and I didnt mind maring it with the hole I could see myself doing a keychain. I used to keychain foreign coins and wierd gaming tokens for fun. People have pocket pieces so maybe someone had a couple pocket pieces and didnt want them getting lost in the pocket. (Makes me think of my dad's floating canoe thing that made his keys float in the water if the canoe tipped over. Attach 5 or 6 of your favorite pocket pieces (that you dont mind holes in) to a keychain and its a lot harder to loose.)

Then maybe it ended up in someone's estate and the person didnt see the value and didnt want the mimento and just spent it. Still legal tender unless someone tries to not accept it. (Which btw is illegal. Law states that all 'coin of the realm' must be accepted for all debts public and private). I think the only exception is if you have less then 49% of the item its not legal tender anymore. But you can take 51% of a dollar bill to the bank and get it replaced.

So all these PMDs if you can identify them are still legal tender. Imagine paying a grocery store bill in all PMDs lol.

That would be pretty funny. I've never taken a 51% dollar bill to the bank to get a new one. Do they measure it?
I did see a thing on T.V. many years ago, where a team of people sorted through burnt bills and pieced them together as much as possible to get a count. Seemed like it was thousands of dollars. Can't remember where or why and all that. I've slept since then. :)

Jaymon thats why when the government destroys bills they burn them and then divide the ashes and remix them and then stir the ashes. Pretty hard core technology out there now a days to repiece stuff. Basic OCR software with a little twist can piece together most documents shreded by todays mid range shreders provided its a good idea you have all the pieces. Thats why some places use cross shreaders and burn bags. Hehe shreading and burning money is on topic in a PMD thread .

The only thing I could think of is if you have that Kennedy strung up as a necklace, you'd be looking at him right side up if you look down at him on your chest.

Who knows? Maybe someone really had a thing for Kennedy and wore this for years? I know people were devastated when he was assassinated...and when any popular figure meets an untimely demise there are always devout mourners. For instance, George Washington death/funeral memorabilia is highly collectible. However, odd that it was made out of a '71, 8 or so years after his death. Hmmm....

Ouch is right! The one on top was definitely shot, what happened to the second one? Shredding and burning money is right on track for this thread. I'm pretty sure what I saw on t.v. was a group that did this for legit reasons. ie a house fire that burned a lot of cash. I could be wrong. like I said before. It had been a while.

DNA, your 1889 CC looks to be in about the same shape as my 1878 CC with roughly the same amount of damage.
