That 1904 Morgan looks like it might have been caught up in a tractor blade or something like that.

Hmmm, sorry is it just me But I'm still not seeing the intrigue behind, or even getting the macabre fascination with purposely sicking coins in a blender. Or hideously mutilating them for entertainment purposes. Was the intent of this thread to show coins that appear to have die errors but actually are PMD If so I have a couple I can look for and show. I also have a few that were flattened by trains on railroad tracks. But I'm saving it for the "How do you like to mutilate your coins?" Topic.

I was actually going for unique PMD found in circulation. It just kind of went crazy I guess. The ones I posted in my first post is an example of unique, found in circulation/ coin rolls. It doesn't matter though. It's all good.

Quote: It has been up for a few hours CoinGuy1000; As soon as I can find that quarter, penny, dime, I flattened on railroad tracks I'll be sure to add it over there In the meantime I went the other direction and decided to start a topic where we can appreciate the beauty of our coins. here's the link, enjoy everyone https://goccf.com/t/131585#131585

Cause this may not actually be a PMD or maybe only 50% PMD? But I've had this one for awhile, and someone described it as a lamination error. looks like a piece was peeled off.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to eat a coin, but that seems to be the only plausible explanation for what happened here: And since I'm here already, I thought I might ask any wandering PMD experts (is there such a thing? ) what might be the cause of this sort of damage: I've seen it in a number of coins, with a smaller circle seeming to be imprinted on the larger one. How does that happen? (ignore the weird greenness, that is just my not-so-great light set-up).

Harry213, I'm still not the greatest person in the world for telling the difference of PMD and errors. Your Wheaty sure looks like a lamination error though! babar, I have no idea either why someone would want to eat a coin. What did it start out life as anyway? It seems that I remember being told that a sorting machine or coin counter causes that sort of damage. I could be wrong though.

Yeah me neither, that's why I said this may be a 50/50. It may be a lamination error, but something could have peeled it back. If you look close and follow the trail of the rip, you can see a small nick/dent on the rim. That suggests it may have been hit by something. I think its pretty interesting, so maybe I'll post it in the error forum later, maybe I can learn more about it there.

This is what it would've looked like originally (aside from the date, of course): I'm not too fond of aluminium coins...they tend to get damaged way too easily. But even counting for that, the damage on that coin was excessive. EDIT: Whooop! I just realised this was the Modern US coins forum. My bad...
