Hi park: Just a note that the A-Mark sets were slabbed Choice BU, not Gem BU.

Choice BU is MS63 minimum. Gem BU is MS65 minimum. The A-Mark pieces were slabbed Choice BU.

APMEX has a couple different things posted on their website. They are sold out now but if you look at the description of the 5ozers on their site it says Gem BU, so we'll have to wait and see.

Sending my moving truck today to pick up the 2,500 oz of silver

Sounds like a lot, doesn't it? With all the packaging, it might be kinda bulky, but that's less than half my peak weight, and about the weight of an average adult. No moving truck needed.

$9.75 total over spot isn't a huge rip. Only $1.95 an ounce. Heck, refineries charge $1-1.50 an ounce for struck 100 oz bars.

Park,

You asked about keeping track of 2011 prices for the ATB 5 oz silver coins. I ordered from A-Mark on special offer on April 27th the Gettysburg and Glacier coins for $629.99 + shipping ($20) with delivery in 4-6 weeks.

Also I received my US Mint ATB 5oz Numismatic Uncirculated Coin (Hot Springs) today. I was a little disappointed in the OGP but the coin itself is very beautiful. I think it would grade out pretty high; MS69 possibly.

Probably need to buy the special airtites for them. The mint has also released special packaging but only in bulk to resellers.

Billie,

The coin comes in Airtites thankfully and in fact trying to get the Airtite out of the black plastic holder was very tough to do so I could look at both sides of the coin. I was disappointed in the overall packaging of the coin, it just did not give a good presentation, partly the plastic ring that holds the coin in the Airtite looks chinsey. The best way to look at obverse and reverse side of coin is to take the plastic holder out of the box and push the coin out.

Yes the coin does come in an airtite already, and the box isn't a fancy wooden display box, but it's good enough I think. It also has a spot where you can place the coin vertically if you want to display both sides.

The cardboard box is very similar to the packaging of the uncirculated commemoratives or exactly like the unc mintmarked ASE from 2007-08. Flimsy cardboard and plastic, understandable in a $29.95 & $39.95 product, but not for $279.95 coin with at least a $50-$60 markup, the Mint could do way better with the average ho-hum packaging. At least they could have sprung for leatherette or velvet cases like for the proof bullion issues.

Got my hot springs 5 ouncer today! It looks at least a 69 maybe better, Definitely a nice piece.

I think their leaving the "Quarter Dollar" on the obverse is a little weird though. A 5 ounce quarter?

And yes the packaging is surprisingly chintzy!

Just got mine! Two or three minor rim hits it seems. Other than that it looks flawless to me. What would the hits bring it down to if I decide to have it graded?

vg/f

Doesn't matter, since anything less than 68 isn't worth slobbing.
