Picked up a small lot of coins from a craigslist ad today. Any opinions on grades for these two? They're both going in my type set till I find nicer examples.

I agree with ShadowCreator on the VG for the LSH. I'd have to say low VF for the Flying Eagle.

Pretty close to what I was thinking also. Got another 1857 flying eagle in this same lot, which is actually in nicer shape, but it has a big red streak of residue on the obverse which kills it. Not sure what the stuff is, swear it almost looks like a kid drew on it with a crayon or something.

The half looks to have been cleaned, with VG details. F on the flying eagle.

Traded up on the 1868 half today. Traded it and a little junk silver for a much nicer 1862-S. Not nearly as skilled at grading coins as most of the people here but I'm guessing AU-50 to AU-53 going by my photograding book.
