Rolls Of Nickels By Year - Coin Community Forum

markj11 Valued Member United States 134 Posts	Posted 04/15/2011 7:07 pm I have rolls of nickels that were rolled 25-30 years ago. They are in rolls by year and mint, 1940-1965, no silver. Is there any premium or should I just take them to the bank? Report this Post to the Staff

At current prices, each nickel is worth $1.60 so I'd hang on to them or sell them for their silver value. All the ones with the mint mark in a large letter above the building are silver. angel2004 Pillar of the Community United States 2168 Posts	Posted 04/16/2011 12:05 am If you don't need the money, I would just keep the nickels. A nickel is worth in metal content about 7 cents each and although you can't melt, a source of REAL money. I keep all my coins now especially nickels and pennies. There could be a time where nickels become a valuable source of metal as the pre 1965 dimes, quaters and halves have become. One of those 1964 dimes is over $3.00 now. Just what I would do.
