There is significant loss of detail on central areas of the coin like Liberty's hair, the eagle's neck, and the talons. The denticles at the rim have been somewhat protected by the mount and have the look of a higher grade (AU) coin. The "used in jewelry" status of the piece basically puts it in the bullion category. The 1901-O is a slightly better date but this one now has very little numismatic premium. Report this Post to the Staff
