Silver should hang in the low 40s. But if it breaks support at $39.50, look out below.

Sounds like my kind of guy! What's he saying?

Agreed. If it gets below $40, lots of paper stop-loss orders will trigger and a fall to $35 could happen in minutes. $30 this summer is very possible. It was only 6 months ago we crossed the $30 threshold. A breather is overdue. Within a year it should bust solidly through $50.

Quote: Also, you can't compare prices to the crash of 2008 when silver fell below $8 an ounce. THAT was some heady days back in '08. Uncirc Common date Rosies for under $1.00, silver Washingtons for $2, Bennys were either $4.50 or $5.00...on and on... Wish I had 20/20 foresight then and bought up everything in sight... You almost couldn't give these coins away, nobody wanted them then. Sigh...

Silver costs about $8 per ounce to mine. If folks truly believe silver will stay at these levels, why not just quit the day job and open up a mine? 80% profit margins!

I wonder how much 90% is being melted lately, if at all?

That may be true, but we both know that many more factors go into the value of silver than just mining costs! Does gold cost about $1525 and ounce to mine then?

If you are anti-PM why do you keep posting? It costs $0.25 to make a toothbrush that sells for $5. Why not make toothbrushes with 2000% profit margins?

I helped my nephew file a gold mine claim in ID a couple years ago. Placer mine, a little color. I did not hang around to help him work it though because it is really hard work.
Even with a pump and some kind of auto sluice thing, it is really hard work. He quit it after a season. I don't think he lost anything, but certainly did not get rich.

I would totally stake a claim if I knew there was a big hunk of gold waiting for me like the one Kagin sold a few weeks back. That was some scary hunk of metal. A pipe dream, but one can dream, eh?
