Our last box-search turned up a few of these. That was quite surprising, as they're a pretty rare find. This one is an old one in our collection, and the pics are kind of dark, but, you get the idea. If you have some, I'd like to see them. Thanks!

EDIT (5/22/11): I'm just looking for the silver ones, folks ('64-'70 and silver proofs); just kind of curious how common these are, as we hardly hear about them.

Oh, forgive me, I meant silver! And I don't know how to change the title to reflect that!

Anyway, that means your second one's out, Vermont, sorry.

Enjoying a Duvel and some snacks, now, and have to get back to the Preakness Stakes.

EDIT (5/22/11): Please note edit to topic post.

This one's probably AT, not really sure though. I got it for just $1 or $2 over spot and thought it had a cool look. It also seems to have a couple plating issues (by "i" in LIBERTY and "O" in "OF").

Mshev, that one's a beaut! FWIW, it's also the look we're seeing a lot of in the kids' coin club. Basically, it's the same look ours is showing. Funny how these rainbows tend to happen from the perimeter inward. Anyways, mucho thanks for hearing the call and posting.

Thanks! And I love the one you posted. My concern with my own is the way the blue looks - but it's possible that Kennedy's tone differently than the coins I'm used to seeing toned. I definitely do not see Kennedys with toning frequently.

I've never found a rainbow in circulation (a few nice light brown ones though) but here's 1 of 3 toners still in the commemorative frame they were placed into in 1975 - which is presumably what caused the toning:

I LOVE that 66. Sadly, I do not have any really nice ones.

ShadowCreator - thx!

RollHunter - the color on that '68-D is every bit of what I'm talking about!

I believe this is natural toning. This coin came from a bank at face value and appears to be uncirculated. One day I'll probably submit it for grading just to see what PCGS has to say about it. I really like this one.

Then there's this 1964-P which I also believe is naturally toned. It was the end coin in a $20 "shotgun" roll of BU 1964 coins that turned up at a bank about 6 years ago. The obverse side (obviously!) was facing out.

Finally, there's this 1964-P. I know for a fact that this one was artificially toned on the obverse. I wonder if it might be "good" enough to pass as natural toning?

Jaobler we love all those looks! That 40% with that full rainbow color on both sides and the 90% with it on only one side are "advanced" ones. They're much harder finds, but some of the kid's have those, too. They were all plucked out of rolls, interestingly enough.

I'd agree on the natural toning for the first two. Love that first one! The third, I can't really see the coloring well enough to decide.

Mshev, I'm just curious. Well enough to decide what? You're not still playing that "AT" game, now, are you? If you are, shame on you!
