I have only been collecting for 4 months and mostly buy from craigslist adds. My wife and I concentrate on foreign coins because of the lack of knowledge most people have makes the picking much easier than all of the US that most are after. Last weekend SHE negotiated a monster. We met a guy who had 9 lbs of mixed foreign coins in a freezer bag. He asked for $45 and we bought with out searching. We found these : 1887 Morgan dollar (junk) 8 junk Barber quarters2 junk Barber halves1 roosevelt silver dime 3 40% kennedy's 1 Maria Theresa Thaler restrike from the early 1900's(?) about $40 worth of Canadian silver dimes & Quarters 1911-D Barber dime in XF and... A 1906-O Barber dime in XF! Woot! Not bad for some young newbies. We did shots afterward

Probably one of my best finds is this 1926J Reichsmark for an even $10: Also scored a 5 Pounds 1999 Gibraltar titanium proof for $5 a while back (Krause values it at $75)

I got this coin for 10% under the melt of Platinum (when it was around 1000-1100) when I first started collecting about 3 to 4 years ago. It is a 1996 platinum one ounce unicorn. I do not have anything that even comes close to the value of it now.

In great condition, The 1983-P Quarter is particularly scarce because no mint Sets were released in 1983.

On November 28, I bought $67 face value of half dollars from a teller in two envelopes. $47.50 in face value of it was silver in the form of 20 90%ers and 75 40%ers.
But if it's just one individual coin that's my best find, I'd say it's the 1865 Two-cent piece that I found about ten days before the silver halves.

Well its been awhile since this thread has been posted on, and it seems that my previous rules were dumb, so I take them back. Post the best deal/find/grab/pickup ever! Most of you have seen this un already. 1982-No P found roll searching. Numismedia values this at $108 in MS60, I think this grades 63.
