Well done crackout and I was about to suggest a cac sticker for your pyramid. Kidding aside, it would be much easier to sell now and has a melt value of $29.75 currently.

I didn't see that scratch on the obverse before. Did that happen as a result of your cracking the pyramid open, or was it there already? Is it a scratch? It's hard to tell from the picture.

Yes, it is a scratch. I am assuming it came from the acrylic somehow.

LOL, you must have had some weak stuff there I have attempted to tackle a couple polycarbonate-embedded coins and it never turns out well. Polycarbonate, aka Lexan, is so bloody tough that it is not even worthwhile attempting to crack it. Extreme cold has no discernible effect, liquid nitrogen is completely ineffective. That is actually a good thing though considering the visor on a NASA spacesuit is composed of Lexan.

It's OK. It's a lot better now than in the encasement! Knowing me, I probably would've scratched it much worse.

If you do sell it on ebay, it'll now cost $1 to ship instead of $15. And more people would be willing to bid on it.

I have seen people try to get these things like this out and we have tried everything imaginable and never could get them out no matter what. Even if we were able to take the coin out there is no void around the coin so the acrylic is still attached to the coin so I am not understanding your technique. and to be honest ahh nevermind

WANTED: 1922 Peace dollar in acrylic Pyramid. Will pay BIG MONEY for the right one.

Sorry, just kidding. I have MAY some old V nickels in a acrylic cube lighter. It has 5 on each side, 20 coins total. The problem is I can't remember where I saw it last. The lighter is brass and fits in a brass holder milled into the top of the cube. I just hope I can find it now. I've moved twice and hope it didn't make the "Garage Sale" box or the trash can. I'm looking through old photos now to see if I can find at least a photo to show. It was my parent's and I think my brother made it in High School shop class back in the '60s.

I'll have to call him and see if he might have it.

Thanks for letting us know it's possible to get the coin out without destroying it.

I worked in a building in Millersport Ohio that had several cracks in the floor repaired with some kind of clear material. Each and every crack with a repair has at least one coin in it. Pennies mostly. The GM said he remembered that when he first started there in the 60's that the coins were mostly already there. I must have gotten on my knees and tried to read those dates a thousand times!!
