Both Buffalo and Ottawa are heavily supported by the Ontario Golden Horseshoe . It's not unusual for the Buffalo rink to be half loaded with Canadian ex-pats during any game, even one not against a Canadian team. During games with Toronto it's insane. This is often true at many US games in any city however.

Hockey really doesn't work below a state like Tennessee or Colorado. The winters any further south than that are just to nice. There are a few exceptions though like Dallas because that is a good sports city and they support all their teams well. Bettman is an idiot too. With all the moving that is going to take place here in the near future (Atlanta already is going) can you please move some teams to the west so that Nashville, Columbus and Detroit can go to the east. While Detroit has managed some cup runs it is extremely hard on those teams because they travel and change time zones more than any other team for the entire year, and it just gets worse in the playoffs. If you think about it Detroits cup runs usually happened because they ALOT more talent than anyone else in the playoffs those years, their third lines could have been first lines for most of the teams they faced, but with the salary cap coming in a few years ago it is very unlikely to see a team have that much more talent than anyone else again.

ugly, you can't be serious. You mean to tell me that 9 thousand plus people in any sell out game at HSBC arena are canadian? What about the extra 3 thousand that pack the streets for the party in the plaza events that Buffalo kind of invented. Those must all be Canadian people too? All the jersey sales must be into Canada as well. The reason most of the games Vs canadian teams are heavily populated with Canadian fans is because people sell those games to pay for their season tickets. Sell a pair of 25 dollar tickets to a canadian for 150 dollars each. I do it every year. Just saying your comments may be true about some places but look at the following of Buffalo fans in other arenas in the US. Just as big as the Canadian teams following. In the south for Sabres games you can clearly hear lets go Buffalo chants over powering the lets go canes chants and such. Oh well. I get upset easily so I'll just leave this be. Get predicting people. lol

I still think this is going to be a long series and the last few years of hockey playoffs say it will too. 2008 Detroit goes up 2 games to 0 on Pittsburgh and it goes 6 games, 2009 same as 2008 but Pittsburgh wins it in 7 games, Last year I believe Chicago was up 2-0 and it went 7 games against Philly and Philly came back from down 0-3 to beat the Bruins earlier in those playoffs, this year Boston was down 0 - 2 to Montreal and won the series in 7, Vancouver went up 3 - 0 on Chicago and it went 7 games San Jose went up 3 - 0 on Detroit and it went 7 games. Anyways time for predicting Bruins 3 - 1 Chara

I thinks its important to keep in mind that without Canadian players the NHL wouldn't exist (this is becoming less and less important with more and more Europeans coming into the league) and without the American market the NHL wouldn't last a season or two. I think the current split between the US and Canada is about right. If you have too many teams in Canada you'll lose some of the American market. Atlanta failed to support a team (twice) and that's too bad. That being said, the Winnipeg Arena seats only 15,000. That's not nearly enough and I think it is a mistake to move a team there when the city already failed to support a team and the stadium is so small. When the US economy comes back Winnipeg will have difficulty supporting the team.

Right on Scurry, but I hear they are building a new arena soon. Atlanta has got to be the worst sports city in America. The Braves weren't selling out playoff games when they had that 14 year run, and before the new Georgia Dome the Falcons couldn't sell out to say their lives. The bad thing is about 5 other American teams in the south need to move or just disappear. Florida, Tampa, Phoenix, Carolina I am sure there is one I am missing, and not because they are bad teams but because they just don't have the market for it.

Quote: Last year I believe Chicago was up 2-0 and it went 7 games against Philly Actually it was 6 games. I'm hoping this series goes 6, but Boston needs to be much faster and much, much, much less sloppy in the neutral zone, or this one is over quickly. My worst nightmare is coming true.

Yeah, unfortunately Bostons grind game doesn't look like it can match the Canuks speed and passing. The Bruins do look sloppy almost like they can't believe they are even playing in the finals. Guess there was a reason Ray Borque had to leave to win a cup.

I just got back from tomorrow when I was celebrating Boston's 6-5 victory in tonight's game 3 in which Seguin scored the game winning goal assisted by Chara and Ryder. It was/will be great game except for that flukey collision between the Sedins at center ice that ended/will end their careers. Enjoy the game.
Edit in bold.
