Question Regarding The 1914-D Lincoln Wheat Cent / LWC

ljenkins990 Valued Member United States 406 Posts	Posted 06/01/2011 2:34 pm Just a quick question - Are there any instances known of 1914-D cents with very weak mintmark strikes? The reason I ask is that I have a cent like this and I can't determine for sure, given my lack of grading experience, whether it is a 1914-D or just a 1914. There is what appears to be an extremely weak "D" under the date in the appropriate location where it would go, but the date itself and the other lettering on the coin is much stronger. Overall, the coin would grade Fine at absolute most and maybe not even that good. Unfortunately, I cannot get a good enough image to post here, so I am just asking in general if these types of coins have come up before, as opposed to asking for opinions on this specific coin. Maineman750 Pillar of the Community United States 3592 Posts	Posted 06/01/2011 3:58 pm I've never seen one...however, I have a 1909-S VDB with a weak vdb,it grades F12, yet I could not see the vdb until I took a picture and viewed it on my pc.I guess what I'm saying is, it never hurts to investigate a little further regardless of common knowledge.
