Faulty planchet to begin with, may or may not have been evident prior to mining, now as chequer said, it has a lamination fault. Sometimes the fault can go right across the coin.

zic just keep checking coins closely,varieties are exciting to find hey.
A lot of great circulated gems out there waiting to be found.
Thats the beauty of the hobby when sorting through coins,its a great feeling finding them
