Hi guys,

Went and bought 5000 pennies today. Its fun! My friend last week gave me what looked like a brass mexican coin. Found out today it was gold, a 1/4 ounce, sold it to the dealer for $800. Took it to my friend and he was floored. He was nice enough to give me half can you believe it. Then I pull out what I think is a nice new shiny dime and its a 1943 steel penny better looking than any copy I have. And I am hoping that this rim is not worn and that this thing might be off center. Boy would that be the end to a great day!

It looks like a MAD (Miss Aligned Dies) to me. Is the reverse centered or is it off set the same amount?

Normal messed up cent from the 80's. Many of the ones from that period have that doubled line on the edge, off centered, lumped through the lettering, etc. From about 80 to 89 a lot of messed up ones that are not really worth a lot as errors since so many out there.

If the reverse is normal, it is just a mis-aligned die. For it to be considered off-center, both sides would have to be off. Even then, they would need to be more off than the example in the picture.

Your day was made with the gold piece - it would be hard to top that.
