I came across this coin: Here is my PCGS rejected 1873 Proof Dime for "Questionable Toning": I don't get it...mine is way better than that one! Funny thing is the toning is as natural as it comes! It's almost like they don't believe there are any coins out there that "can be graded". I am tired of wasting money submitting coins, it's a lot cheaper to just buy ones already graded or have a "reputable dealer" submit it for you and get your CAC sticker to boot. PCGS is lazy and would rather mark things questionable than take time to look at them. What a waste of money. Report this Post to the Staff

It is fairly common knowledge (or it should be, anyhow) that unless you are a major dealer, and therefore well known to PCGS, your coins will not be graded as flexibly as theirs. Numismat Pillar of the Community United States 1674 Posts	Posted 06/14/2011 01:08 am Mitch is right, both PCGS and NGC are notorious for Draconian practices that favor big time dealers and screw over the small guys. It's a sad situation, for which the graders for these companies pay a heavy toll on their conscience (for those of them that have one). For now you are indeed better off submitting coins through a dealer that is highly reputable with the grading company you are submitting to. Report this Post to the Staff
