I bought a storage locker last weekend, I came across a box of coins and some paper money. Check this bill out...Is it worth anything? I also found $200.00 worth of silver, I paid 60.00 for the locker. Edited by crazy4mopar 06/14/2011 4:45 pm

Almost looks like a bleach job for counterfitting to me heard they were doing that with 5.00 bills and changing them to 50.00s and 100.00s

Looks altered to me also but I'm no expert. Nice score on the silver coins. I guess there isn't a dave type person at your auctions. lol, Dave hester from storage wars.

It is not a bleach job, how would you bleach a note while leaving the entire reverse, seals, and serial numbers intact? Your note is an error missing the second printing(1st print- reverse, 2nd print- portrait, borders, and signatures, 3rd print- seals and serial numbers). Missing an entire print, especially a dramatic one missing the 1st or 2nd, is much more rare than an underinking error where not enough ink was applied to one of the prints. Your note is well-circulated which is odd considering how obvious of an error it is so that will have some impact on value but I would estimate at least $200. Of course, an error such as this one needs to be examined in hand by someone who knows paper money because photos almost never tell the whole story with currency.

Hey, welcome to the forums! :) Yeah, I really don't think it's authentic.. If it were real, I don't think it'd have much wear on it.. But you found $200 silver in a $60 locker.. Good buy any day!

I don't think it's missing the 2nd print because I can still see the outline of the obverse on it.. Kinda like a shadow..
It has to be underinked.. If genuine..
Or is my reasoning flawed?

I took the coins to my local coin dealer, they were pretty beat up, He looked at the bill, he also said the bill was missing the first print. The envelope said "Luck dollar" I guess someone carried it around.

as I have heard it they leave the seals and serials intact on the bleached bills. no idea how ya would do it since I'm not in that field just what we were informed by the Fbi at my store location.

No Dave Hester at the auction, There is a shadow barely visible. I also went to the pawn shop He said he had not seen a bill like this. I asked if it was altered he said no because the back was intact. He has seen lots of altered bill but nothing like this.

Hmm... Maybe they're printed with different inks.. I don't know... And, about the dealer, this would be the second print, because the reverse of the bill is printed first, then the front, then the serial numbers and seal

The only shadow detail I see is showing through from the reverse. Yet another reason why currency errors are very difficult to authenticate by photos only...

I'm comparing it to a regular dollar bill, the grey "one" is there in the shadow which appears to be on top of the green seal..

I can definitely see the outline of George. At least, I don't think I am experiencing some type of illusion.
