This place is best desrcribed as a search engine for auctions, both online and in your local area.... http://www.auctionzip.com/tn.htmlThey claim to be...."The worlds largest online bidding destination", don't know about that, and I really doubt you could find deals on coins then less then what you could find here, but who knows, so much out there via online anymore, hard to say... I found many live auctions here for other items. I looked through here for a while, and I like the fact that it has a search engine designed to find auctions within 30 miles (or whatever milage you select) of your zip code. I typed in my zip, and it took me to an auction house not far south of me in Sweet water T.N.. Nice pictures and listing information and I even found some coins to be auctioned and the pictures of the case containing them. Not planning to go, but down the road never know what you may find, and here you have a nice chance to view the list of items and pictures of the items for sale..... The categories are vast, And I really like the HOME STATE pages, which shows you any possible thing for sale, via auctions, online auctions from your area, and estate sales. There were some auctions near me Fri and Sat, another Monday. Grab dinner on the way, and it might be a way to spend some time out of the house.

After checking the auctioneer's web site, apparently they also server dinner there. I think I will pass on eating there too.

Cool that you found some places to check that fast Fuzzy. With gas and time being so valuable for most, this site could help eliminate wasted time searching garage sales in the heat for example, where one person in another post said they hit like 20 garage sales yesterday and found no coins....
This site also seems to be at the top of the google list, and being the first on the page is huge, as I bet 95% of the population never scans beyond pages 1 or 2....

Along the same idea: I stopped by the pawn shop near work the other day. They had a couple of coins in the display, but didn't ask if they have some behind the counter.

I use auctionzip all the time. There are auctioneers listed that also allow you to leave absentee bids online. I've used one in particular for that, without a problem. You can widen or narrow your search by distance and items. IMO- a great search site for auctions.

I've used it for a while to find coin auctions. Most auctioneers in my area know what they're talking about in the descriptions, got one coming up that's a 2 day auction , 100+ coin lots with CC morgans.

I bid on coins in several online auctions but never won. Haven't bid lately.

My interest is the online bidding. Has anyone ever won ANYTHING off of this site? I have several bids out, am interested to see if I can snag anything.

Quote: Has anyone ever won ANYTHING off of this site? I was factoring in the buyers premium which was sometimes 15%-20% when I bid so I never even came close to a winning bid.

I have watched, but never participated in, any of the live auctions. I have left numerous bids on-line for one particular auctioneer, and have won a few, usually below my max bid. I have never had a problem with this particular auction house.

I buy alot of coins through auction zip. I am a newbie though and don't know many people in the hobby. I do research every item I'm interested in before bidding. I've gotten just about all my coins through auctionzip or another online auction and can say overall I'm very happy. I usually pay less then 30-50% less than gs and my photograding has gotten alot better. I have lost money on a few items but overall I think I've done pretty good.. For example I picked up 2 GSA 1882-cc's for $150ea. Just don't forget when bidding there are buyer's premiums and the shipping to include when your figuring out how much to bid. Just my $0.02...

I tried an auction zip auction again yesterday. Seems to me people just way over pay. Common date low MS Morgans going for $60. Junk silver for melt or more. Then you have to pay an 18% buyers premium, plus 3% auction **(No Zip Files Allowed)** fee, plus shipping. Maybe I just join the wrong auctions.
