Quite honestly, start placing some of your eggs in another basket.
I utilize eBid as well as
ebay. You can pay a flat one-time fee to list auctions with no further fees unless you choose certain "add-ons" (highlighted & bold listing, top of page listings, gallery, etc). The FVF is only 2% for gallery image, and 0% for just basic listing.
Sure, it may take a bit longer to sell an item, but as you begin to build a reputation, you will sell faster. You may also import your feedback from other venues such as
ebay and
Amazon through Repatoo.
I now only put my "signature" product on
ebay now. Once in a while I'll throw some junk silver or other items on
ebay just to quickly dispose of them. Obviously, there is a much greater exposure on
ebay, but that exposure in no way indicates that you will receive even FMV for your sales.
Everybody wants everything immediately nowadays...even profit. Running a business takes time and patience. The investment is exactly that: an investment. An acceptable profit margin is said to be 6% per annum while an exceptional margin would be 12%.
It takes time to first begin meeting your profit margin when you first start out. Even if you move some of your items to another venue, do not become discouraged because they do not sell immediately "like at
ebay".
Furthermore, "Top-rated" is over-rated. My sales do not change when my sales "quota" is not met to keep the "Top-rated" status. I have been "Top-rated" off and on throughout the past 18 months on
ebay. In some cases, I tend to do more sales when I am
not "Top-rated" and get more reasonable offers on my BINs.
With regards to DSRs, I really cannot speak from experience as a seller. But, as a buyer, I rely more on feedback than I do DSRs. When I see feedback which is all praise, yet there are low DSR ratings, I figure that some idiot(s) didn't know how to click the stars. But, that's just me.
Again, put some of your eggs in another basket.
ebay is neither the entirety of the internet nor the world. You have options.
