This charm is 110mm in diameter (!) and made of bronze(?) so I'm not thinking it's a coin. It would wear out your pockets! I think it might be a good luck charm made to hang on the wall - can someone confirm?

Both images are upside-down.

This is usually considered a Chinese "marriage charm". The inscription (bottom image) reads zheng de tong bao.

The reverse side (top image) shows a dragon (man) and a phoenix (woman).

You can see a couple of my "old" zheng de tong bao charms here: http://primaltrek.com/marriage.html...oenix_charms

Your charm is actually a modern machine-made version of the charm.

Thanks, Gary - much appreciated info - those charms of yours are fascinating - I also know now to drink 7-up at a wedding!
