Do we have the RCM Steel penny in circulation? My wife was in Toronto and brought ALL her change back, and I did get 2 zinc and 2 steel 2011 pennies, all I have got here is zinc.

I have not found one yet although they seem to be out there. Report of 3 found a week ogo. I have enough trouble finding the zink. In my area, the only bank that orders change do not order pennies.

Wait, there are steel pennies in 2011? What am I missing here? Something new with 2011?

wrestling, on Canadian pennies, the base metal can be either zinc or steel, but they are both copper colored.
just the way the Canadians do it, nothing to do with a war or anything.

2011 cents are just starting to show up in circulation where I live. I have only received three in circulation. One is non magnetic and the other two are magnetic.

Thank you cdcoinman, my French was never very good in school. But I put the Google tool bar up and it has a translate button and the spell check as well as my spelling is no better than my French.

Hm, considering the number of reports about 2011 "Steel Pennies" I think 2011 will be a year where magnetic and non-magnetic are both being made for circulation. Too many are found to consider the magnetic ones a "fluke"

Well in 2006, the Canadian Armed Forces upgraded its equipment for the US's Afghanistan mission. Maybe that conflict has nothing to do with steel pennies, but a connection can be made if you reach. Hindsight "appears" 20-20.

Collecting Canadian cents is quite challenging. I find it a bit annoying there are multiple varieties in any given year now when it comes to composition.

I have found both varieties on multiple occasions so I consider both varieties to be common, as redlock says.
