Sap Moderator Australia 16867 Posts	Posted 07/23/2011 10:04 am I've just spent a fun-filled evening moving a whole bunch of identified coins out of ID required, and thought I'd add one of my own to make up for it. I picked this piece up from a dealer's bargain bin at the local coin show back in May, and have been unsuccessfully trying to ID it ever since. It's fairly small, at 17.6mm diameter. I don't have a weight for it but can get one next week if needed. It's very thin. and lightweight. One side has a seated figure holding a sword. The other has two standing figures with haloes - presumably saints. There's what appears to be the remnants of a legend around both sides, but very little in the way of identifiable lettering. My first instinct was mediaeval Slavic/Balkans, but I skimmed through the Medieval Balkans book I recently purchased and didn't spot it. Closest thing I found was for a Croatian city that was under the control of Naples. It might not even be a coin, but a religious medal. However, such medals are almost always holed or looped, and this piece bears no obvious sign of either.
