I really love the design of Peace dollars and have been lucky enough to pick up a few at great prices.

However looking over values & mintages, I'm a bit confused on pricing.

The 1921 peace has a mintage of just a little over 1 million coins, and at a G4 grade it's at $76 on numismedia. Compared to the 1934 which had only 951,000 , shouldn't the '34 bring a similar price? The '34 has almost no premium outside of AU grade over 'common' Peace dollar denominations. The '27 is in a similar situation as well, 848k mintage yet the value isn't spectacular, yet the '27-d and '27-s varieties carry a higher premium even with higher mintages.

What causes these values, as we're talking only a time span of 15 years or so.

it has nothing to do with mintage's, it has to do with how many were kept back then in higher grades. The 1921 was heavily used so one in better condition sells for more money, the others you mentioned probably were hoarded and can be found in those higher grades easily

Also be aware that the 1921 Peace dollar is a unique 1 year only type coin and that increases the demand and drives up the value.

yeah that's right, the 1921 is a high relief coin which they only did in 1921 because they said it was to hard to do, sorry forgot to mention that
