when I went to my first coin show, I was so overwhelmed I couldn't find anything I was actually looking for. I made some purchases but only one coin I was actually looking for I found. I learned from that first experience though and next time I will take a list of coins I am looking for so I don't buy everything I see that I like instead of getting what I need

Great finds on your first coin show! I was like Bryan1315 above when I went to my first coin show, buying just what I happened to see and like. I also have a list with me from now on. It's still great to find a deal that's not on your list.

I don't go to a lot of shows, but when I do I like to buy what catches my eye, much like you did. Makes it fun. Although I always have my list in my pocket, just in case.

A very nice variety of coins from your first show, congratulations! I always take my lists to the shows and every time there is always the one or three or four coins I end up seeing not on my lists that I just have to buy because I can't find the coins I am primarily looking for in the grades I want. So I come home with coins to fill some holes and some that are destined to be just show and tell pieces. Ed ANA LM-3175

One thing that I figured out through trial and error is that you can bring your collection with you when you go. I am not meaning individuals coins in flips and so on. I have completed the Barber Half series about a year ago and started upgrading some of the Fines to XF or AU. If you find a coin you need to upgrade, the dealers will more often than not, buy the coin you want to swap out saving you some money off your purchase. I was able to upgrade $1,000 dollars worth of coins in the set for right at $600.00 because of the trades.
Just something to think about.

1/4 Franc's arent the easiest coins to find. You might paid a little over Krause price (which are usually way off), but I would have goten it for $5 dollars too.
Looks like an 1841-A (Paris) 1.3 Milion Mintage 1.2500 g., 0.9000 Silver .0362 oz. ASW KM740.1

FIgured it was worth a buck and a half in silver anyway but I also like it cause it's really old and worn!
