I have been trying to purchase both the 1994 U.S. Veterans Commemorative Silver $1 3 Piece UNC(West Point) & Proof(Philadelphia Mint) sets. I know that the UNC had a much lower mintage numbers than the proofs.
My questions is what would be a fair price to pay for the Proof Set? Also, what is the approximate price for the unc set?
I was given this years US. Army $1 silver proof from father-in-law. I have also purchased the Medal of Honor $1 silver proof.
This are for my personal enjoyment and doubt they will ever be worth much more than the melt value. However, I still like them and other military commemorative coins.
I retired from the U.S. Army past year after 24 years. I still work for the Army as a Dept of the Army Civilian in the Acquisition Corps.
Thanks in advance for all the great information. I appreciate all the information that is available from all of highly knowledgeable experts on this site and your willingness to share it with a novice such as myself.

I have no clue on the current market value of the coins you seek ... humbly suggest there are many on-line resources (including E-Bay finished auctions) that would give you that info. I do indeed salute your 24 years of service. David

The three piece proof can be had on ebay for under $120. I have not seen any of the uncirculated set.

My grey sheet is a couple months old ... it shows dealler ask price
$115 for proof 3 coin set $125 for Unc 3 coin set
That is a dealer to dealer price, I would think the closest you can get to these prices and staying under $150 each set, would be a good deal.

I hope we were not bidding against each other on the same set. I got my UNC set for 127.50 + 2.99 for shipping. I bid within a few dollars of the older grey sheet prices you had posted

Sounds close but not the same one .. I went to $122 ... because it was at a low price right up to the last minute .. but the shipping was $5.99 The one I bid on did end up closing at $127.. that might be the magic number I will bump my max bid on the next one I bid on. I have been buying a lot of Morgan dollars and Barber dimes this week because I am finding them at a good deal .. But I will get back to the Comm dollars ..

I need to get back to working on upgrading my Morgan Date book and slow down some on the commemorative collection. There are so many great coins out there that I want. All though, commemorative coins are ever changing and many moderns seem to go for a fairly reasonable price. It is hard sometimes, for me, to focus on completing one type of coin with so many choices to work on.

Okay this has been a little more difficult process than I had originally anticipated. However, I should have the pictures posted in the next half hour or so. Had to recharge the batteries on the camera. Then was called away to assist my bride with a few task.
Life got in the way of doing the pictures on Sunday and Monday.
