I was just surfing ebay and found this item: "2013 $1 F15 Walking Liberty American Silver Eagle Coin Fabulous 15, buy it now for $120.00 USD". This is where the F15 series is / was such a disappointment. The only thing special about the ASE on offer is the plastic case (square) and the paper (no serial number). The Ad states that the mintage is 10,000, this just isn't the case, I don't know the numbers on 2013s but there must be millions of them out there. The 2012s were over 33 million minted. The coin is just bullion, not proof, no privy.....

That's why people just buy the privy ones on ebay. I just sold 2 of the 2011 privy ones that I had extras of.

My rant is basically a buyer beware for those just being introduced to the F15 series. Some of the coins listed above are truly excellent, the TIKI (F15), the Kangaroos (F15) (sunset and outback).

There are not a few reasons, that your own is preferable. The main: For the $95 for each coin, you will find better choice of coins. The RCM's not bad, but you creation will be nicer. If you do not mind to spend money, you might take a RCM collection as a base (so you will have the box and some of the coins) and replace the coins that you want.

@sherwooddavid...
Look at one of my posts on page 18 and it should give you a great idea on what too look for and what countries regularly put out bullion coins every year. Many of the countries made one year bullion coins for one reason or another. Matter of fact the folks that made the Suriname coin are undergoing some legal issues right now and it looks like it will be a one year bullion coin.
You will definitely have to do some serious research on whats available out there right now as far as bullion world coins but if you look at my list it will give you a great starting point. Good luck to you and please let us know what you come up with.
Personally I would like to do a 2014 set but I'm not sure I can undertake the costs at this time. Perhaps someone can post a list of what has been released so far in terms of world bullion coins

Your list is current, rodzm. In 2012-2013 added some African "semi-bullion" coins, with Antique finish, mintage 1000-2000: Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Baby elephant... They overpriced, but I believe, possible to get them sometimes near $100. Also, "Pasific" series issued, I think, with Tuvalu or Palau denomination, has the same idea as African series - the animal on the antique finish and small map. Ukraine issued bullion coin. In 2014 RCM started to mint new bullion series "Birds of Prey" and also issued some "Bullion Replicas": Maple Leaf, Maple Leaf WMF Privy, Falcon (part of Birds of Prey series), Arctic fox (probably part of another Wild Life series). Plenty of coins to choose from, having different finish, 1oz weight and .999 purity - unlike non consistent F15 RCM collection.

Thanks for the advice Silveroid & Rodzm ! I like the idea of buying the 2013 FAB 15 as a base and just keeping the privy coins and replacing the rest. Just wondering Rodzm what year are the coins are on your list ? Should I stick to one year or jump around or does it matter ? Hope the questions arn't too stupid ! lol

sherwooddavid...my advice would be to concentrate on a specific year. Fab 15 sets basically consist of bullion coins released during a specific year so going with a theme that goes outside of that or jumping around with different years ckind of defeats the purpose. All the coins on my list were for 2013 so they may vary for this year. To my knowledge that is the most complete list of 1 oz bullion coins released for 2013 and I have yet to find any other countries that released bullion coins other than those countries for 2013. I focused on bullion coins because they are the most affordable but you can certainly mix it up and try to replicate the Fab 15 set and add other countries to the mix.

You are welcome. The questions are not stupid, people have them exactly, when they discover existence of RCM FAB15 subscription. Quote: Should I stick to one year or jump around or does it matter ? Hope the questions arn't too stupid ! Preferable to have one year set. But it depends on the preferences. I for example create my similar type collection on the base of 2012 F15, but also I went for the Proof coins, that basically they still bullion, but demand more premium (single non replaceable BU that I have it Austrian Philarmonics - all other Proof or Reverce Proof or Proof Like), so I needed NZ Kiwi coin, but what to do - I do not like 2012 Kiwi design.....I bought 2008 one, cause prefer to have more attractive coin, rather then same year coin. Have a good luck.If I'll have a time at late evening, I'll post the picture of mine 15 coins (I went for 15 due to RCM box with 15 cells). @rodzm: If you can - post the pictures of yours....you know, to have the visual example so helpful to the people. I inspired by poboxs' pictures with the map....

rodzm,thanks again for the great advice. So I ordered the 2013 Fab 15 and I think I will start to look around for the coins on your list over the next 15 months until all the Fab 15 coins arrive. It would be nice to know what exactly I have coming with the Fab 15 so I buy duplicate coins. Looks like I'm going to have to find another RCM display box...I wonder if there are any on ebay ? Thanks,Dave

Love to see your pics Silveroid ! As I mentioned to rodzm I took your advice and bought the 2013 FAB 15 as a base and will replace a bunch of them. Just can't make up my mind if I want to go over 15 coins and have to locate another display box ? I guess I have lots of time to think about it.

Quote: Just can't make up my mind if I want to go over 15 coins and have to locate another display box ? I guess I have lots of time to think about it. Well, good. Be prepare to overpay and replace more than half of coins. These of them that you will want to replace - cost as bullion, despite square capsule and RCM COA (non serialized) The not good news - that with the fact, that you will go over 15 coins - you will lose the benefit - RCM box. It not so great, but it good for this purpose. The bad news: As I know, there is no RCM box exists, that holds more than 15 coins of this size ( 37- 41 mm). As alternative, look at the Lighthouse Volterra wooden boxes - they holds 60 coins (3layers*20 coins) and they wooden and well done (I use it for bullion collection) Cost: $80-$90. But the good news, that at the end you will learn a lot about this type of coins, and will have well balanced collection.

We're around the 10th coin by now. Personally, I only put the ones that have the F15 privy mark in the box (I feel the other don't belong there), which is a total of nine coins as I was told by a rep at the mint. Unfortunately, the most popular bullion in the world doesn't have the privy (American Silver Eagle, China Panda, Mexican Libertad, Britannia), but I don't care, this is a F15 collection and too bad.
