The 1952 5M is a nice pickup! The brass coin is the scarcer one--how much did you pay?
I think I see mint luster, so EF sounds right! Krause shows $20 in EF, but my catalog from Denmark shows $40, and the book is 11 years old. The 1949 is an iron coin, which no doubt broke the dies quickly.

Thanks DVcollector, I paid 12 dollars Canadian for the 1952 5 markka. Yes there is definitely mint lustre, I think it could even get an AU...very possibly.
In regards to the 1949 markka, are die cracks common? I know it is not the best picture but I am 100? sure the line you see running along the "49" part of the date is a die crack. Any value?

I think of die cracks as part of the normal life of die, but some collectors like them.
I don't think there would be a premium unless it was a dramatic crack and was sought-after.

Thanks DVCollector, appreciate the information. I really need to network with some Scandinavian dealers...I am accumulating alot of Finnish coins and filling alot of holes. My goal is to get a circulated version of every coin minted since 1900.....miles to go.

Picked up a beautiful 1907 5 pennia coin from ebay a few weeks ago, has been a busy time so not much time to post. Got this one at a great bargain....looks to be about VF-30......6 dollars....pretty sure this is way under book value.

A 5 penniƤ 1907 VF-30 is listed as $15 in my most recent catalogue. Very nice find!

Thanks litotes. Have some more on the way and will post more picks as soon as the current "life" craziness subsides a bit.
