Here's a coin I picked from a bargain bin, just because I thought it was an attractive coin. Only later did I notice the holder said "without mint name".
If true, this is the scarcer of two varieties--I like when that happens!

This is a beautiful coin and being scarce adds to its beauty..... where should the mint mark be? as I see on the obverse an area to the left of the date where a mint mark may have been and may be fell out!

Thanks Amr. I never saw this coin before; it was too interesting to pass up!
I believe the mintmark should be below LATVIJA in the scroll.

Thanks DL for that picture!
Interesting trivia about these coins--they were minted in Le Locle Switzerland, better known as the center of the Swiss Watch industry.

I wrote an article about this "mint names" in one Russian magazine.
There are no varieties like it is written in Krause catalog.
Especially on 1 santims 1928, Because of "Huguenin", it is Swiss mint and all bronze coins dated from 1926-1935 was minted in the UK! There is no possibility to have a Swiss mint name on the UK coin!
